Terms of Service
The agreement between you and Marinero. Plain-language where we can; the whole thing still counts.
Last updated 6 August 2026
Marinero (“Marinero”, “we”, “us”) is a sailing-education app operated from Innsbruck, Austria. By creating an account or using the app or this website (together, the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the Service.
1. Who can use Marinero
You must be at least 16 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to create an account. You’re responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything that happens under your account.
2. What Marinero is
Marinero teaches recreational sailing knowledge through short cards across ten modules, plus free tools and guides. It’s a learning aid for people joining a charter or crewing a boat.
Marinero is not a substitute for hands-on instruction, a qualified skipper, or a recognised sailing course or certificate (such as RYA, ICC, or equivalent). It does not qualify you to skipper or crew a vessel. Sailing carries real risks. You are solely responsible for your decisions, safety, and the safety of others on the water. Always defer to a qualified skipper, official guidance, and your own judgement.
3. Accounts & the free tier
You can create an account with email and password or with Google. A free tier lets you try the core of the app at no cost. Some content and features require the paid “Capitán” unlock.
4. Capitán — the paid unlock
- Price: a one-time payment of €34.99 (incl. any applicable VAT). This is not a subscription — there is nothing recurring to cancel.
- What you get: access to the full course on your account for as long as we operate the Service.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We don’t see or store your full card details. Your unlock is tied to your account.
5. Right of withdrawal (EU consumers)
As digital content supplied immediately, your statutory 14-day right of withdrawal ends once you request immediate access and begin using the paid content, and you acknowledge losing that right at that point (§ 18 FAGG / EU Consumer Rights Directive). If something’s wrong with your purchase, contact us — see §12.
6. Using the Service responsibly
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-commercial licence to use Marinero. You agree not to copy, resell, redistribute, scrape, or reverse-engineer the content or app, share your account, or use the Service unlawfully.
7. Our content
All content, illustrations, and software in the Service are owned by Marinero or our licensors and are protected by copyright. Your licence to use them ends if you breach these Terms.
8. Availability & changes
We work to keep the Service available but don’t guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may add, change, or remove features, and we may update these Terms — we’ll post the new date above and, for material changes, give reasonable notice.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. We don’t warrant that the content is complete, current, or fit for any particular purpose, including real-world navigation or safety decisions.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Marinero is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your reliance on the content when sailing. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Austrian law (including for personal injury caused by our negligence, or fraud). Where our liability is capped, it will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
11. Governing law
These Terms are governed by Austrian law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules and the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Mandatory consumer-protection rights in your country of residence are unaffected.
